I Am Not A Joan (Synopsis)
• I am not a Joan is basically about a woman named Joan who is beautiful, she is a size 18 and has very low confidence, her husband no longer pays her any attention so she ends up committing suicide.
Target audience
• Our target audience is average women of the UK, as a shock that you shouldn’t suffer in silence if you are unhappy or upset about a situation.
• Audience Profile
Plot Summary
• Locations - It will probably be located in a small castle or large house with a slight tower with it.
• Characters - The main characters are going to be Joan, the husband (Douglas), and the mad next door neighbour, and any extra people for background shots.
• Costume Needs - We will probably need quite plain but posh clothes that will make the audience aware that Joan is quite a plain but beautiful woman. We will also need some nightwear for Joan for the end few shots.
Style Notes
• Camera Angles - There are a few camera angles that we may have a bit of difficulty with especially as Joan is meant to commit suicide at the end of the short film, by jumping out of a window. But the rest of the camera angles should be ok to perform.
• Mise en scene - It will probably be set in quite an old Victorian house, with it immaculate inside as Joan spends most of her time there it should be quite homely but lonely at the same time.
• Framing - We would have the block black lines at the top and bottom of the shot, we will do this in I movie.
• Sound - Sad song at the end to help the audience connect with Joan. Plain tune throughout, whilst the narrator is speaking, but it climaxes into depressing music at the end.
